Jackson's Jenny Powell and Montana Adams are headed back to the Class 2 state girls tennis tournament.

The doubles team defeated Jenna Meyer and Kate Dolan of Cor Jesu 6-3, 6-3 in Tuesday's sectional to reach the state tournament.

Powell and Adams qualified for the state tournament last year as sophomores.

Notre Dame's Kelly Kapp and Reagan Kapp fell to Lutheran South's Grace Schwerdtfeger and Marthilda Kaipare 7-5, 6-0 at Sikeston.

The loss concluded the Bulldogs' inaugural season.

VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame 25 25 Central 5 16

Kate Edwards knocked down nine kills, while Miranda Fowler added six kills in the Bulldogs' road win.

Amy Wibbenmeyer chipped in five kills, and Shelby Dix put up 18 assists in the win.

Brooke Bohnert contributed 12 digs, while Olivia Roth had 11 digs for Notre Dame (16-2).

Katie Williams put down five kills, and Tori Scheller had 18 assists for the Tigers.

Haley Maxwell added three digs for Central (7-19-2).

JV -- Notre Dame won in two games.

Perryville 25 25 Herculaneum 13 13

The Pirates improved to 25-2 with a home win.

Megan Grubbs contributed seven service points, while Amanda Yamnitz had three aces for Perryville.

Angie Hoehn had two aces, while Kaitlyn Ellsworth added three kills for the Pirates.

JV -- Perryville won in two games.

SCAA tournament

Advance defeated Bell City 25-19, 25-17 in the first round.

Liza Gray smashed seven kills, while Allie Below had 17 assists for the Hornets.

Haley Kennison added six kills, while Kelsi Sturgeon posted 15 digs for Advance.

Jasmine Johnson paced the Cubs with 12 kills, 15 digs and two blocks.

Trisha Slagley added 26 assists and five digs for Bell City (11-11-2).

BOYS SWIMMING

Notre Dame meet

The Bulldogs claimed the title at their own meet with 125 points.

Notre Dame's Dustin Parsons won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Jackson Voss won the 200 freestyle and finished third in the 100 freestyle for the Bulldogs.

Jackson's Kristian Troxel won the 200 individual medley and took second in the 100 breaststroke. Both times were better than the state qualifying standard.

Jackson's Payton Beck came in first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 100 backstroke.
