Jackson's Carli Knott was the first runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19 minutes, 16.81 seconds to lead the Indians cross country team to the championship of the Class 4 District 1 meet on Saturday at Jackson City Park.
The Jackson senior finished 15.55 seconds ahead of Lindbergh freshman Jennifer Weaver to win the race for the Indians, who had three of their runners place in the top 10 to edge the Flyers by 11 points in the team standings. Freshman Kaylee Wilson placed fifth and junior Megan Barnum followed in sixth to pace Jackson.
On the boys' side, Jackson senior Jackson Givens placed sixth with a time of 17:12.09 to lead the Indians to a third-place finish in the team standings. Senior Alex Philipps took eighth place to round out the local finishers in the top 10 as the Indians finished two points behind Farmington and three points ahead of Lindbergh in the team standings. Hillsboro senior Aaron Dugan won the boys' race with a time of 16:11.04.

The top-seeded Crusaders won their second straight Class 1 District 1 championship with a shutout victory over the Goldbugs.
Dustin Lorenz netted a pair of goals to lead the Crusaders, who improved to 10-13 on the season, while Jake Wyatt, Joe Rubach and David Ezana each added a goal. Trevor Ochs, Gavin Steffens, Drew Zieba and Matthew Moore each had an assist for Saxony while goalkeeper Jacob Stueve recorded four saves in the shutout.
McKinley finished its year with a 7-5 record.
Saxony will take on Principia in a Class 1 sectional Saturday at Saxony.
