NEW YORK -- Rickey Henderson homered and scored twice before being carted off to a hospital after crashing into a wall, leading Frank Castillo and the Boston Red Sox over the New York Yankees 7-1 Sunday.

Nomar Garciaparra and Doug Mirabelli also homered for the Red Sox, who won two of three at Yankee Stadium in a matchup of the teams with baseball's best records. Boston left with a two-game lead over New York in the AL East.

Castillo (4-5) tamed the club that leads the majors in home runs, holding the Yankees to one run and four hits in eight innings.

Henderson homered off Ted Lilly (2-5) to open the third. The Red Sox already led 7-1 when Henderson banged into the left-field wall after catching Enrique Wilson's slicing drive to end the fifth.

The 43-year-old Henderson bruised his lower back. X-rays were negative.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The first five Texas batters reached base and scored, ending Paul Byrd's bid to become the AL's first nine-game winner.

Chan Ho Park (2-2) allowed five runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings, including a two-run homer by Carlos Febles. Hideki Irabu got his 12th save in 14 chances.
