Southeast Missouri State's reign over women's track and field in the Ohio Valley Conference came to an end Saturday as the Redhawks placed third at the OVC indoor track and field championships in Charleston, Ill.
The Redhawks women had won seven straight conference titles -- four outdoors and three indoors. Eastern Illinois, the host, swept the meet. The Panthers scored 132 points on the women's side, followed by Tennessee State with 117 and Southeast with 100.
Eastern Illinois dominated the men's side with 207 points, followed by Southeast (135) and Tennessee State (95).
Southeast freshman Ashley Brewer led the Redhawks with their lone title on the women's side. Brewer won the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 9 3/4 inches.
