One month after the Southeast Missouri State football team plays at Arkansas, the men's basketball team will open the season -- and the Scott Edgar era -- there.

The Razorbacks join Purdue and Iowa State as major nonconference road games on Southeast's 2006-07 schedule, which was released Thursday by the university.

In Scott Edgar's first season at the helm of the Redhawks, the team also will play at Evansville. Southeast will host nonconference games with Indiana/Purdue-Fort Wayne as well as Cal-Riverside. It also will host a Bracket Buster Game on Feb. 17 against an opponent to be determined.

Southeast last year played at Cal-Riverside in a Bracket Buster Game as the two programs languished in the lower third of the national RPI rankings. Southeast finished 7-20 in Gary Garner's final season.

The Redhawks will open this year with exhibition home games Nov. 2 against Westminster and Nov. 3 against Kentucky Wesleyan.

They begin the regular season Nov. 10 at Arkansas. They follow that with a trip to the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Redhawks will play three games Nov. 17 through 19, opening with Drake.

Southeast's first home game is Nov. 24 against Cal-Riverside.

The Redhawks will begin Ohio Valley Conference action at home Dec. 2 against Tennessee-Martin.

The nonconference road games with Iowa State and Purdue are back to back on Dec. 23 and 30.

"We have a very challenging schedule that should get us ready for the OVC," said Edgar, who last year was an assistant at Tennessee. "Road games at places like Arkansas, Iowa State and Purdue should prepare our players for tough games on the road. Hopefully, by the time we open OVC play on Dec. 2 againt Tennessee-Martin, we will be prepared and have created enough excitement that we can have our first sell-out of the season at the Show Me Center."
