Eagle Ridge Christian's girls and New Salem's boys captured championships Saturday during the Ozark Christian Athletic Conference basketball tournament hosted by Eagle Ridge.
In the girls final, Eagle Ridge downed New Salem 35-26. In the boys final, New Salem beat Eagle Ridge 63-50.
Eagle Ridge's girls were led by six points each from Cara Ervin, Carrie Margrabe and Amber Karnes. Leah Poole of New Salem paced all scorers with 19 points.
New Salem's boys got 25 points from Jason Conway and 16 from Brandon McCormick. Eagle Ridge was led by Toby Shreve with 18 and Brandon Sparkman with 12.
Eagle Ridge's girls finished the season at 7-9 while the boys wound up 9-11.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Lady Tigers place sixth
ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central's girls placed sixth out of 14 teams at the Marquette Relays Saturday.
Cape Central finished with 100 points. Host Marquette won the meet with 186 points.
A highlight to the meet was Cape Central's Jean Maguire swimming a state-qualifying time on the opening leg of the 400 freestyle relay. The Lady Tigers finished seventh in the event. Their best finish was third place in the 900 progression.
Cape Central returns to action Tuesday when Parkway North visits for a dual meet.
