Multiple runners from the Notre Dame track and field team posted state-qualifying finishes at Saturday's Class 3 Sectional 1 at Rockwood Summit High School in Fenton, Mo.
Jordan Barber led the Bulldogs with a first-place time of 49.12 seconds in the 400. Barber joined teammates Tyler Schumaker, Nick LeGrand and Devin Ross as the Bulldogs took second in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3 minutes, 28.71 seconds. Barber, LeGrand and Schumaker were also on the 3,200 relay team, along with freshman Rudy McClellan, that took fourth place. McClellan also posted a fourth-place time of 4:27.28 in the 1,600. Jordan Caruso added a third-place finish for Notre Dame in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.16 seconds. In the field events, Collin Boner and Bobby Jansen finished third and fourth, respectively, in the high jump for the Bulldogs.
Notre Dame tied Lutheran South with 50 points for third place in the overall team standings.
On the girls' side, Marissa New was the lone Notre Dame athlete to qualify for state with her fourth-place throw of 131 feet, 5 inches in the discus.
The Bulldogs will compete at the Class 3 state meet Friday and Saturday at the Dwight T. Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
