Scott resigned from the post in May after agreeing to stay on with the university through the 2005-06 school year to assist the university in the process of the NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference investigation into the program.

The OVC's preliminary report that recommended restructuring of the department was released in late June. The university's restructuring included hiring a new director devoted solely to compliance, giving up duties in student services, and adding a part-time assistant position.
