SPRINGFIELD -- Led by Grace Freeman, Cape Girardeau Central High's girls swimming team placed fifth out of 24 teams in Saturday's Springfield Invitational.

Columbia Hickman won the meet while Blue Springs was second.

Freeman set a new meet record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.07. She was also second in the 500 freestyle (5:28.38).

Central's relay team of Laura Dombrowski, Jennifer Freeze, Jean Maguire and Freeman was second in the 400 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle.

Also for the Lady Tigers, Maguire was fifth in the 200 freestyle and Dombrowski placed fifth in the 50 freestyle.

"I was real pleased with our performance and Grace had a great meet," said Central coach Dayna Powell.

The Lady Tigers will host McCluer North Friday as they close out the regular season.
