Central's baseball team continued its late-season roll Thursday after scoring nine runs in the first inning and cruising 11-0 over visiting Scott City. The regular-season finale ended after the top of the fifth inning on the 10-run rule.

The Tigers improved to 17-9 heading into next week's district tournament.The Rams fell to 1-15.

Ben Johnson pitched four innings and allowed only two hits for the victory. Chris Daniel had two of Central's seven hits, and Seth Hudson added a home run.

Central's junior varsity (12-3) defeated Scott City 8-3 behind the pitching of Matt Hellrich. Brandon Cooper and Ty Craft both had two hits.

Sikeston 12, Jackson 2

Sikeston, the state's top-ranked Class 3 team, pounded Jackson's pitching for 17 hits, including four home runs, in a road win.

Blake DeWitt pitched four innings for the win. DeWitt also was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Nathan Eaves homered twice for Sikeston (21-1). Jacob Priday and Drew Lawrence also homered. Scott Keenan added three hits.

Tyler Beussink took the loss after going 3 1/3 innings. Tim Stearns had two hits for Jackson (10-11).

Chaffee 6, NMCC 5

Chaffee rallied for three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to beat New Madrid County Central at home.

Brent Thomason started the rally for the Red Devils (11-10) and Jeff Daugherty finished it with a game-winning single to drive in Robert Coomer.

Zac Horman picked up the win with a complete game, striking out eight and walking three. Coomer and Sam Burnett had two hits apiece for Chaffee.

Oran 16, East Prairie 8

Nathan Seyer banged out his eighth and ninth home runs of the season in a road win.

The Eagles (17-2) led 10-1 after scoring seven runs in the top of the third. East Prairie answered with seven runs in the bottom of the third, then went scoreless.

Seyer led the Eagles and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Garrett Roslen added four singles and two RBIs. Tyler Cookson, Joey Bickings and Tyler Nelson had two hits apiece. Cookson had a home run and four RBIs, and Nelson added a home run.

SOFTBALL

Oran 5, East Prairie 2

Teresa Hodges held East Prairie to four hits to pick up the complete-game victory on the road.

Hodges struck out four, walked two and went 2-for-4 with the bat. Tori St. Cin had the big hit for the Eagles (9-5) with a basing-clearing triple in the third.

GIRLS SOCCER

Notre Dame 7, Farmington 1

Sierra Ellis scored three goals and Amanda Dirnberger added two as Notre Dame won at home to finished an impressive regular season.

Emily Essner and Kristen Boos added goals for the Bulldogs (18-2-1). Boos added two assists. Lauren Mehner, Ellis, Emily Buehrle and Megan Holloway had an assist apiece.

Notre Dame's JV won 2-0. Mattie Ness and Dani Schumer scored for the Bulldogs.

Jackson 4, Carbondale (Ill.) 0

Jackson closed out a big regular season by posting a shutout in Illinois.

The Indians (19-2-1) got goals from Rebecca Richbourg, Katie Domian, Molly Hartmann and Trina Lang. Courtney Urhahn had an assist and Whitney Werner recorded the shutout.
