CAPE BASEBALL TEAM TO JR. BABE STATE TOURNEY
The Cape Girardeau Tigers won last week's District 3 Tournament played at Arena Park to qualify for the 13-year-old Jr. Babe Ruth State Tournament that will begin Thursday in Rolla. Cape began the double-elimination district tourney with two wins, beating SEMO South 15-11 and Mineral Area 10-7. Mineral Area then came from the loser's bracket to beat Cape 12-2, but the Tigers bounced back to defeat Mineral Area 8-2 and capture the title...

"We have a great group of players, and we have great parents' support," said Jay Crosnoe, one of the squad's coaches.
Cape will play host Rolla at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the state tournament. The finals are set for Sunday.
