The Notre Dame Bulldogs girls basketball team defeated the Farmington Black Knights 68-39 on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Notre Dame Regional High School.

Neveah Lucious led the Bulldogs on offense with 22 points, followed by Brie Rubel with 14.

Notre Dame dominated the Black Knights on both ends of the court all night, Bulldogs head coach Kirk Boeller said the defense was the main factor of his team’s performance.

“I thought defensively that was our best game of the year that we've played, we were able to get turnovers and get some fast break layups and some easy buckets there early,” Boeller said.

Notre Dame took off from the tip-off, beginning the game on a 6-0 and forcing the Black Knights to take a quick timeout. Farmington found their rhythm from three after the break but could not stop the Bulldog’s height advantage on the inside, Notre Dame led 22-14 after one.

Farmington was held to just six points in the second, all of which occurred with no Bulldog starters in the game. There was nothing the Black Knights could do on either end with the height difference and defensive intensity by Notre Dame. The Bulldogs held a 41-20 lead at the half.

Lucious made the biggest difference for the Bulldogs on both ends, Boeller called her a “disrupter” on defense.

“She is a complete disrupter on defense and when she gets the ball moving toward the basket, she's got such a good touch that she is hard to stop,” Boeller said. “Tonight was one of her best games so far in high school.”

The second half rolled on with no drama, Notre Dame outmatched Farmington in every way to walk away with their 17th win of the year. Boeller said they will continue to prepare for the post-season when they host Cor Jesu Academy on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

“That's been our focus since since November. Every game we play is to get ready for that playoff run,” Boller said. “We'll take a few things that we can still improve on and work on those in practice and try to get ready for Cor Jesu on Friday.”
