Southeast Missouri State University punter Jason Witczak has been named the Ohio Valley Conference special teams player of the week.
Witczak averaged 43.0 yards on a career-high 11 punts to help lead the Indians to a 28-25 victory over 12th-ranked Illinois State. The junior had punts of 62, 58, 53 and 50 yards.
Eastern Illinois quarterback Tony Romo was named offensive player of the week as he completed 25 of 46 passes for a career-high 414 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers nearly upset Division I-A Toledo before falling 31-26.
Western Kentucky linebacker Melvin Wisham was named the defensive player of the week as he collected a career-high 22 tackles, six for loss, a sack and a forced fumble to help the Hilltoppers down 24th-ranked Elon 23-0.
Murray State wide receiver Michael Slater was named newcomer of the week. He caught eight passes for 125 yards, including TD grabs of 21 and 65 yards, in a 44-28 loss to I-A Middle Tennessee.
