Bieser, who had been hitless in his four previous official plate appearances this season, singled in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Mets lost 4-3 as the teams split.

Bieser is in his first major-league season after spending the previous eight years in the minors. He played for Southeast in 1988 and 1989.
