PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Perryville's Ashley Blyzes broke a scoreless duel with a second-half goal as the Pirates' girls' soccer team upended Central 1-0 Wednesday.

Blyzes scored in the 67th minute off a pass from Britney Weibrecht to send Central (2-1) to its first loss.

Amanda Nuyt made nine saves in recording the shutout for Perryville (2-0).

The teams settled for a 1-1 tie in the JV game. Perryville's Stacey Landholt scored in the final minute of the game on a shot from over midfield. Lauren Thompson scored Central's goal.

BASEBALL

Chaffee 18, Delta 0

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chase Eskew pitched the Red Devils' first no-hitter of the season in a five-inning game.

Sam Burnett was 3-for-4 for Chaffee (3-2), which out-hit Delta 18-0 and made use of seven errors in its Scott-Mississippi Conference matchup.

Jackson 8, Fredericktown 2

JACKSON, Mo.-- Fredericktown committed a staggering seven errors and Jackson played small ball, singling eight times for a home win, its first victory of the season.

Starting pitcher Austin McDowell struck out six and gave up no runs in his outing. Michael Birk and Brady Berry both had two hits for the Indians.

Woodland 21, Richland 3

RICHLAND, Mo.-- Woodland scored in the first three innings to make quick work of Richland.

Four players had stellar performances for Woodland (3-0). Kyle Long missed the cycle by a home run, but drove in three runs. Alex VanGennip had three stolen bases and four runs scored. Scott Crader scored four times and drove in four runs and Luke Johnson stole four bases and had six RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Chaffee 5, Delta 4

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Ashley Graham's two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning served as the game-winning hit as Chaffee won a thriller.

Chaffee (3-0) was led by Kate Pfefferkorn with two hits. Graham had three RBIs. Shannon Hampton was the winning pitcher.

Delta (0-2-1) got two hits from Andrea Dohogne. Rebecca Cook took the loss.

Kelly 10, Poplar Bluff 0

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Dana Essner and Whitney Beggs combined on a one-hitter as Kelly (2-0) romped in a five-inning, run-rule contest.

Essner, the winner, gave up no hits over the first three innings. She struck out seven and walked two. Beggs allowed one hit, with three strikeouts and one walk, over the final two innings.

Kristin Harper had three hits and three RBIs. Essner, Monica Senciboy, Christy Kluesner and Allison Johnson all had two hits. Essner and Johnson both added two RBIs.

Scott City 9, Oak Ridge 9

OAK RIDGE, Mo.-- The game ended in a tie due to darkness. Scott City had a big seven-run second, but Oak Ridge was able to plate three in the bottom of the 6th to even things up.

Shana Wadlington racked up 12 strikeouts in the contest for Scott City (0-2-1), which got two hits from Wadlington and Brittny Amick.

For Oak Ridge (0-1-1), Candice Schaeper had three hits and four RBIs, Chelsea Felter had three hits and three RBIs and Lexy Myers added two hits.

GOLF

Jackson 148, Central 160, Clearwater 192

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.-- Jackson came out on top, beating Central by 12.

Jackson's Chad Reiminger sizzled with a 32 to earn medalist honors. Central's Todd Obergoenner had a 37.

Sikeston 165, Notre Dame 175

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Adam Fenwick had Notre Dame's top score, a 5-over-par 41, as the Bulldogs fell to 3-1 in duals.

Sikeston's Jonathan Spencer was the medalist with a 39.

Ste. Genevieve 152, St. Vincent 159, Perryville 174

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- St. Vincent's Andrew Prost and Wes Richardet both shot even-par 36s as the Indians placed second in a triangular.

Perryville (0-2) was led by Kellen Stark (39).

TENNIS

Central 8, Dexter 1

Central improved to 2-0 with a home victory over Dexter.

The Tigers won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches.

Central's JV also won 8-7.

TRACK &FIELD

Notre Dame sweeps meet

BENTON, Mo.-- Christian Berens won both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles events and Tyler Cuba took first in the 100 and 200 meter dash races to anchor Notre Dame's boys to a meet victory at Kelly.

Like Cuba, Erin Pfau also took two first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 on the girls side as the Bulldogs prevailed. The girls scored 206 points, while the boys had 188.

FRESHMEN BASEBALL

Jackson 10-0, Central 4-6

Jackson and Cape Central split a doubleheader at Cape Girardeau Central.

Jackson (1-1) won the opener 10-4. Matt Hellrich and Brandon Cooper, the losing pitcher, both had two hits for Central.

Central (2-1) then blanked Jackson 6-0 behind the three-hit pitching of Hellrich. Steve Miinch had two hits for the Tigers.
