PHOENIX -- Livan Hernandez allowed two hits in seven innings, Conor Jackson tied a career high with four RBIs and rookie Carlos Quentin had a career-high four hits as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the St. Louis Cardinals 13-1 Friday night.
Hernandez (11-12), who gave up one run, won for only the second time in six starts since joining the Diamondbacks Aug. 7.
Eric Byrnes and Chad Tracy each homered for Arizona, which won for only the second time in 10 games. Arizona left fielder Luis Gonzalez had three hits, including his 48th double, breaking the club record he set in 2000.
St. Louis starter Anthony Reyes (5-7) gave up seven runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season.
The Diamondbacks had been outscored 132-65 in the first inning this year. But they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in this game. Orlando Hudson doubled and scored on Gonzalez' single, and then Byrnes hit a two-run homer on the first pitch he saw.
St. Louis got one run back on Juan Encarnacion's solo home run in the second. But Arizona put the game away with four runs in the third.
Tracy capped the scoring by belting a Reyes delivery 395 feet into the right field seats to give the Diamondbacks a 7-1 lead.
It was more than enough support for Hernandez.
