Notre Dame wins summer volleyball league

Notre Dame defeated a team known as the Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday in the final.
Jackson finished third in the eight-team postseason tournament, and the St. Vincent Squaws were fourth.
St. Vincent won the JV division.
Heartland National 12-U team wins regional
The Heartland National All-Stars won the 12-and-under bracket at the Babe Ruth Midwest Plains Regional tournament last weekend in Chaffee, Mo.
The team has qualified for the Babe Ruth World Series, Aug. 7 to Aug. 14 in Mattoon, Ill.
Members of the squad are Mallory Seibert, Lauren Glastetter, Heather Beggs, Amanda Williams, Kendra Burnett, Brooke Simpson, Londyn Backfish, Brooke Glastetter, Libby Burger, Nikki Chambers, Kristen Powell, Cortney Shelton and Alanna Riddle. The coaches are Scott Burger and Cameron Beggs, and the manager is Tony Powell.
Williams medalist in J.C. Chip-A-Ways
JoAnn Williams won medalist honors Tuesday in the J.C. Chip-A-Ways ladies league play at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. Bev Wink and Melba Masterson tied for top honors in the "A" flight. Mary Van Cleeve had the low putts, and Jan Keefe won the play of the day, which was "count even holes."
Jones medalist for Cape Country Club ladies
Marlena Jones was the medalist for the Cape Girardeau Country Club ladies day event Thursday.
The play of the day was "Flay Tourney." Mary Ellen Bean placed first, Mary Jane Eftink was second, Jones was third, and Beth Mapes finished fourth.
