Area school classifications

Where Southeast Missouri schools are going for the next two school years, according to assignments from the Missouri High School Activities Association on Wednesday. A new class has been added to basketball, football and music, which led to redistribution of many teams.

CLASS 6A (new): None.

CLASS 5A: Jackson.

CLASS 4A: Cape Girardeau Central, Poplar Bluff, Sikeston, Perryvlile, Farmington, North County.

CLASS 3A: Dexter, Fredericktown, Kennett, New Madrid Co. Central, Park Hills Central.

CLASS 2A: Caruthersville, Charleston, East Prairie, Malden, Portageville, Scott City.

CLASS 1A: Chaffee, Hayti, St. Vincent, Valle.

Basketball, music

CLASS 5A (new): Cape Girardeau Central, Farmington, Jackson, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff.
