Special Olympics track event April 8
The Southeast Special Olympics Track and Field Meet is scheduled for April 8 at the Central Junior High School track complex.
Opening ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m., and the track events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The event is hosted by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, K103, KZIM, Kiss 93.9, Cape Girardeau Wal-Mart, Noon Optimist Club, Kiwanis Club, Ahrens Appraisal Service, Southeast Missouri State Greek students and the Central Student Senate.
Special Olympics is a year-round sports program for individuals with mental disabilities.

The Immaculate Conception girls B team concluded their season by winning the ICS tournament with a win against Immanuel Lutheran School of Perryville in the championship game.
Members of the ICS team, whose photo appeared in the Feb. 19 edition after the team won the St. Vincent tournament in Cape Girardeau, include: Brianna Ziegler, Jamie Brugger, Ashley Humphrey, Ashlynne Shrum, Amber Humphrey, Colleen Ratcliffe, Emily Lawrence, Heather Halter, Madison Blankenship, Shelbey Carroll, Leann Tripp, Erica Scholl and Kelly Litzelfelner.
The team was coached by Bill Humphrey and Rick Brugger.
The St. Vincent DePaul eighth-grade boys basketball team captured the Parochial League tournament in Perryville this season.
Dylan Essner and Taylor Essner made both the all-conference team and the all-star team. Mark Hagedorn also made the all-star team.
The team was pictured in the Feb. 19 edition after winning the Pizza Inn Notre Dame Regional High School Tournament in January. From that event, Matt Helle, Liam Maher and Dylan Essner made the all-tournament team.
Members of the Bobcats, coached by Jim Essner and Rick Hagedorn, this season were: Taylor Essner, Ryan Dix, Jack Mocherman, Cody Moore, Dylan Essner, Matt Helle, Liam Maher, Mark Hagedorn and Cole Wichert.
Notre Dame Regional High School is sponsoring a raffle with nine prize packages for tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals' first season at the new Busch Stadium.
The packages include two tickets for opening day, four tickets for an Astros game, three weekend packages with two tickets and a stay at the Drury Hotel. The grand prize is four tickets each for eight games.
Raffle tickets are $25 and may be purchased from a Notre Dame parent or by calling 335-6772. The ticket and stub must be turned in by April 3.
Proceeds benefit the Notre Dame Education Fund Foundation.
