Scott wins title in 200 individual medley

Cape Girardeau's Susan Beth Scott touched the wall in 2 minutes, 42.47 seconds to win the paralympic division's 200-meter individual medley Saturday at the Canadian World Challenge in Montreal.

"My times have been solid," Scott said in a release. "I'm kind of in the middle of training in preparation for Pan Pacs coming up next month in Edmonton. So overall I am pleased with what I am doing."

Scott took second in the 100 freestyle Friday. She finished in 1:01.94, just six-hundredths of a second behind Canada's Summer Mortimer.

Schreckenberg, Cook capture title

The team of Virgil Schreckenberg and Lachelle Cook claimed victory at the SEMO Horseshoe Association's 13-team tournament at the Oran Jaycees.

Randy Senciboy and Beaver Glastetter finished second, while Danny Williams and Joe Bean were third.

The team of Randy Grady and Karen Barks took first place in the 13-team tournament at the Jackson Knights of Columbus.

Schreckenberg and Cook teamed for second place, while Lester Powell and Cori Stoverink were third.

Cape Junior Legion falls in semis

The Cape Girardeau Plaza Tire Junior American Legion baseball team lost to Newburgh, Ind., 8-5 in the semifinals at the Paducah, Ky., tournament Sunday.

Thomas Crocetti struck out six over six innings in a losing effort.

Aaron Grainger and Stephen Brennan both collected two hits and scored a run for Cape (10-14).

Ramsey Scott doubled in the loss.

Monday's third-place game was rained out and won't be rescheduled.
