Basketball
Youth league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Girls Youth Basketball League for those in grades 3-12. The league will play in three divisions on Saturdays from Jan. 8 to mid-March. A rules meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Osage Community Centre. The registration deadline is Dec. 3. Men's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will offer a men's basketball league, scheduled to start Jan. 5. Registration ends Dec. 10 and a manager's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Osage Community Centre. The league will have five divisions for levels of competition, with games played Monday through Thursday nights and on weekends at the A.C. Brase Arena and the Osage Community Centre. Women's league: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is offering a women's basketball league, scheduled to start Jan. 13. Running
Toy Box Run: The Cape Road Runners will sponsor the Toy Box One-Mile Run/Walk on Sunday ahead of the annual Christmas Parade of Lights. The event begins at Capaha Park on Broadway and ends at Main Street. Preregistration cost is a $5 minimum donation to Toybox Trust or a new toy delivered to the Southeast Missourian by Friday; race day registration is a $10 minimum donation or a new toy.
