Prints by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Mihail Chemiakin have been donated to the museum at Southeast Missouri State University.
The three prints were donated by former Southeast Board of Regents member Kay Schilly Brown and her husband, Dr. Patrick Brown, of St. Louis.
According to Museum Director Pat Reagan-Woodard, the prints are all excellent examples of modern European art and are part of very limited editions. The Picasso, an etching, is print number 46 out of only 50 and represents the artist's "Girl Before a Mirror" series. The Chagall, number 22 out of 50, and the Chemiakin, number 164 out of 500, are both lithographs of figures.
"When Kay Brown contacted me about donating the prints," said Kala Stroup, Southeast's president, "she said she had so enjoyed her involvement with the university during her tenure on the Board of Regents that she wanted to give something to the university as a tribute to that experience. We're thrilled with the enormity of her gift a gift that we feel to be as generous as her devoted service to the board from 1983 to 1989."
