Mark Werner of Dutch Guttering in Cape Girardeau recently returned from the National Gutter Helmet Dealers Convention in Clearwater, Fla. The three-day convention consisted of meetings, seminars and sales presentations. Also, new product lines were featured that will be introduced in the spring. Gutter Helmet is a gutter and roof protection system that keeps out leaves, ice, snow and debris.
Sharlene Lack has been honored by the Business and Professional Women's Club in Kennett as the recipient of its Woman of the Year Award. Lack has been a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club since 1997. She holds the office of first vice president and previously held the offices of recording secretary and third vice president. Lack has been a postal clerk with the U.S Post Office in Senath for 12 years.
Express Personnel Services of Poplar Bluff recently renewed its registration as an ISO 9002 company as recommended by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited, announced Karen Lance, local franchise owner. ISO 9002 is an international standard for quality management, placing stringent requirements on business processes.
Jeff Glenn, director of membership development for the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, recently completed a week-long professional development program with the Institute for Organization Management. The program was held Jan 3-8 at the University of Arizona. Specifically, program participants build skills essential to address the challenges of increased competition, greater member demands, and tighter resources. Glenn has now completed two years of the four-year program. He completed the first year of the institute at the University of Notre Dame. He has been with the Chamber for 18 months.
Harold Meyr has been issued an individual license by the Missouri State Board of Accountancy to practice as a certified public accountant in the state. Meyr, a Cape Girardeau resident, has been working as a public accountant and as an enrolled agent for the past 25 years.
Saint Francis Medical Center received 19 awards and the People's Choice Award at the Tri-State Advertising and Marketing Professionals ADDY Awards Competition in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 31. The competition is the first of a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The ADDY Awards Competition is the industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.
CPAs Bill Schott and Harold Fallert with Schott & Van de Ven, Certified Public Accountants in Cape Girardeau, have attended the Federal Tax Institute held in Hendersonville, Tenn. The Institute provides information on significant developments in federal taxation as well as guidance in the identification and solution of tax planning problems. The two-day training included 10 nationally acclaimed speakers from the industry.

Joe Randol of Jackson has completed a course in auctioneering and auction sales manageement at the Missouri Auction School in St. Joseph. He received the honorary title of colonel following the nine-day school.

Mark Eustis, a senior executive officer at BJC HealthCare who, among his responsibilities, oversees Parkland Health Center in Farmington, has been elected to a position on the board of the Greater St. Louis Division of the American Heart Association-Heartland Region.
Terry Goodwin, sales manager of Best Clean Fireplace Shoppe in Farmington, recently passed the Chimney Safety Institute of America's exam to become a CSIA certified chimney sweep. Goodwin passed a 100-question exam based on standard chimney service practices and applicable fire safety codes. The exam is based on a reference manual containing up-to-date technical information on cleaning, maintenance and repairs of chimneys, and the National Fire Protection Association's Code 211, which provides standards for chimney inspections.
Rhonda Ruark, human resources manager at TG Missouri Corp. in Perryville, recently earned certification as a senior professional in human resources. The certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute, signifies that Ruark possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.
Ken Howard has been awarded the Graduate of the Realtors Institute designation by the Missouri Association of Realtors. Howard received the designation after completing 90 hours of specific education outlined by the National Association of Realtors. Howard is a broker with Century 21 Heartland Realty in Jackson.
Mark McCoy of Jackson, executive sales associate for Aventis Pharmaceuticals, was recently inducted into the President's Club. To be eligible for this award McCoy's sales performance for the past three years placed him in the top 2 percent of all sales associates for Aventis Pharmaceuticals.
The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announces that Dodson Cravens, RPh, CDE, of Three Rivers Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, has achieved Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the certification examination for diabetes educators.
Liz Abernathy, Patty Main and Linda Brown of Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty in Jackson, have been awarded the Accredited Buyer Representation designation by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council Inc., of the National Association of Realtors. They join more than 24,000 real estate professionals in North America who have earned the ABR designation. The requirements include a two-day course in buyer representation, a written exam on legal and practical aspects of client representation, and practical experience in the field of buyer representation.
Michael Radake, a CPA with Schott & Van de Ven CPA in Cape Girardeau, attended a workshop on audits of 401(k) plans. The workshop covered how to audit a 401(k) plan and prepare financial statements that satisfy federal requirements. Radake works in the employee benefit division of the firm and is responsible for administering the company's benefit plans. He is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
