Deborah Vandeven has joined the Southeast Missourian Creative Services department.

Vandeven recently moved to Cape Girardeau from Shawnee, Kan. She has a bachelor's degree in visual communications from the University of Kansas.

Scott Anderson, who has been working part-time in the Southeast Missourian's Creative Services department since October 1991, is now a full-time graphic designer in that department.

Anderson will graduate from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in art in December.

Donald A. Broughton, a Cape Girardeau native, has been named vice president and chief operating officer for BevMark Concepts, a beverage distributor in Dallas.

BevMark distributes several brands for Cadbury Schweppes, Dr. Pepper-Seven-Up Co., and other smaller companies throughout the country.

Broughton is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and now lives in Dallas.

Gerald Stevens of Cape Girardeau has joined Coldwell Banker Blanchard & Associates Realty Inc.

Stevens, a native of Marble Hill and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, was associated with the former Colonial Federal Savings and Loan, where he was chief financial officer for more than 20 years. He is also owner of H&R Block Tax Service in Perryville and Ste. Genevieve.

Melina Mara, a native of the New York area, has joined the Southeast Missourian news department as a photographer.

Mara, a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, is a former school teacher. She previously worked as a journalist for The Associated Press in Trenton, N.J. She will remain with the Missourian until January, when she enters the graduate program at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia.

WICKLIFFE, Ky. Donald L. Dodds of Paducah, Ky., has been promoted to plant manager at Westvaco Corp.'s Wickliffe, Ky. Fine Paper Mill.

He replaces Fred W. Erdmann, who recently retired after 38 years with the company.

Dodds joined Westvaco in 1982 as a project engineer. He was promoted to senior project engineer in 1988.

ST. LOUIS Charles W. Mueller will become president of Union Electric July 1.

Mueller, 54, has been with UE since 1961, when he joined the firm as an engineer. He is currently senior vice president-administrative services.

He is a 1961 graduate of St. Louis University with a degree in electrical engineering. He also has a master's in business administration from St. Louis University.

Mueller will succeed William E. Cornelius, who has served as president since 1980, and CEO since 1984. Cornelius announced recently that he will retire Jan. 1, 1994. Mueller will become CEO at that time.
