John V. Johnston, owner of H.R.H. Dumplin's in Cape Girardeau, has been named president of the Southeast Missouri Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association.
Johnston, who has worked in the food industry a number of years, and his wife, Lisa, a nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, acquired an H.R.H. Dumplin's franchise in November 1993 and opened a restaurant at 274 Mount Auburn Road.
Prior to opening H.R.H. Dumplin's Johnson worked at the Airport Restaurant in Cape Girardeau, the Famous Barr Gold Eagle II Restaurant and Mid-America Hotels.
Johnston has pledged to increase membership in the SEMO Chapter and increase awareness of the hospitality industry through quarterly newsletters and membership drives.
The local chapter is one of 11 that make up the framework of the Missouri Restaurant Association, a 3,600-member organization that serves food service owners and operations in western Illinois, all of Missouri and parts of eastern Kansas.
Retta Miller has been promoted to vice president of marketing at Capital Bancorporation.
Capital Bancorporation is a multi-bank holding company headquartered in Cape Girardeau. It currently operates 31 institutions through six affiliate banks in Missouri.
Cape Girardeau cardiologist Dr. James Chapman recently participated in the evaluation of a new balloon catheter for the performance of coronary angioplasty.
The tests were performed in the experimental cardiac catheterization laboratory of St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Rob Schwartz staff cardiologist at Mayo Clinic, also participated in the evaluation. The catheters are being developed by Advanced Cardiovascular Systems of Santa Clara, Calif.
Chapman is associated with Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau, and is a member of the medical staffs of St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
Tom K. O'Loughlin II of O'Loughlin, O'Loughlin & McManaman, L.C., has been selected as vice chairman of the Agriculture Law Committee of the Missouri Bar.
Ron Mitchell, Missouri Bar president, announced the appointment.
O'Loughlin has been a member of the Agriculture Law Committee 20 years. Almost all Missouri Bar programs related to agriculture law are initiated, supported or directed by the committee.
Ivi Picar Price recently passed the National Board Examination for certification as a registered dietitian.
Price is a graduate of Cape Central High School and University of Missouri-Columbia, where she received an undergraduate degree in dietetics. She is employed by Nutri-Fit Consultants Inc. in St. Louis.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Picar of Cape Girardeau.
Harlan G. Sadler has completed two H & Block advance income tax preparation courses -- Advance Tax Topics Part I and Partnerships, Corporations, Trusts and Estates.
Sadler will be working at the H & R Block office in Jackson.
Jay Johnson and Francis Nenninger, machine shop employees with Auto Tire & Parts here, received 15-year service awards recently.
John Tlapek, Auto Tire & Parts president, presented the awards during the company's annual Christmas party.
Employees receiving 10-year awards were Dot Ayers, receptionist; Cheri Vetter, accounts receivable; and Don Pardue, outside sales representative. Five-year awards went to Susan Eudy, office manager, and Brian Eudy, warehouse manager.
