Dr. William K. Kapp III will join Orthopedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, P.C., in August in the practice of orthopedic surgery.
Kapp has been in practice at St. Louis and currently serves as LCDR, USNR, attached to MAG-41 in Dallas.
He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed a master's degree in immunology/biochemistry. He completed his postgraduate training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as chief resident in orthopedic surgery.
Kapp will be the seventh orthopedic surgeon on the staff. He will join doctors Raymond A. Ritter Jr., Gordon W. Eller, Michael C. Trueblood, William P. Thorpe, Rickey L. Lents and R. August Ritter III.
Kapp's wife, Mary Beth, is an ophthalmologist and will also have a medical practice in Cape Girardeau.
Joe Gilmore has joined Mac Con Co. of Gordonville.
Gilmore of Cape Girardeau has worked in the general and heavy contracting business as an estimator and project manager for more than 20 years.
Mac Con, owned by Mike Stallion, is a general contracting company specializing in pre-engineered metal buildings.
Oralee Poteet of Olive Branch, Ill., has joined Tip of Illinois Health Service Inc., as director of social services.
Poteet, who will work out of the Carbondale Tip office, has a bachelor's degree in social work from Florida State University, a master's degree in social work from the University of Texas and a master's degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University.
Prior to joining Tip, she was director of the weight management program for Austin Regional Clinic at Austin, Texas.
Tip, in operation since 1976, provides home health services in the lower 26 counties of Southern Illinois.
Rick Crow has been elected president of Antique Center Mall Corp., 2121 William in Cape Girardeau.
Other officers are Charles Hopkins, vice president, and Elaine Heuring, secretary-treasurer.
Rich Hewitt has been named manager of the operation, which buys and sells antiques and collectibles.
Cape Girardeau cardiologist William K. LaFoe has been inducted as Fellow in the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
LaFoe is also a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology. He is chief of Cardiology at Southeast Missouri Hospital and is a partner at Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Girardeau.
Betty Sprengel has been recognized for work with the Cape Telephone Pioneer Club.
Sprengel was honored during the Telephone Pioneers of American Assembly, Durant Chapter, meeting held at Lake Ozark recently.
Sprengel, who retired from the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1987 with 37 years of service, has been instrumental in a number of fund-raising activities of the Cape Telephone Pioneer Club, to provide funds for local charities.
Roger Hyslop, inside sales representative at Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s distribution center at 4946 Nash Road, has received the Vice President's Round Table Award for 1994.
Hyslop received his award, presented to the company's top sales leaders, during an awards ceremony held recently at Atlanta.
Georgia-Pacific, headquartered in Atlanta, is a forest products company with operations in 48 states.
Mary Jo Westrich observed her 40th year in banking last week.
Westrich, an investment officer with Boatmen's Investment Services, started her banking career at First National Bank in Cape Girardeau in 1955. First National eventually became Centerre Bank, which was later acquired by Boatmen's Bank.

Kimberly A. Bowers of Cape Girardeau has joined the Missouri State Fair staff as assistant director.
Bowers, a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in agriculture and business administration, will be responsible for coordinating corporate sponsorships, overseeing the fair's housekeeping and maintenance staff and other administrative duties.
Bowers was most recently employed as a project associate for University Cooperate Extension. She has also worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative and as an assistant manager for a livestock genetic evaluation station.
