Barbara England of Malden has been appointed as marketing consultant for KUGT AM 1170, Christian radio station in Jackson, announced Larry Dunger, owner of KUGT.

England was previously general manager of the Christian radio station and marketing director of Broadcast Cablevision in Malden.

England was a recipient of the Who's Who in Religion in 1995-96 and is among Who's Who of American Women in 1996-97. She was chosen for her background in communication and marketing.

General X-ray Inc., 605 Good Hope St., has announced that Bill Sellers of Cape Girardeau has been promoted to the position of general manager of the Cape Girardeau office.

He has more than 13 years experience in the X-ray field with more than 11 years of that time employed by General X-ray.

When the Cape Girardeau office opened, he was hired as a service engineer and later was promoted to sales representative where he has improved the operation of that facility with growth and customer satisfaction.

General X-ray is the largest independent supplier of radiology supples, service and equipment in the Midwest with about $70 million in annual sales.

Nan Thornton, a dietitian, has joined St. Francis Medical Center as a certified nutrition support dietitian.

A resident of Sikeston, she was previously assistant director of food and nutrition clinical services at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff. She has also held nutritional support and dietary positions at health care facilities in St. Louis, Sikeston and Springfield, as well as Kingsport, Tenn., and Iowa City, Iowa.

She received a bachelor's degree in dietetics from Southwest Missouri State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1987. She served a dietetic internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City before earning a master's degree in human environmental services with an emphasis in human nutrition from Southeast Missouri State University, graduating with academic distinction in 1993.

Nurse Brenda S. Johnson, education coordinator for St. Francis Medical Center, has been admitted to associate status in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

The College is an international professional society representing more than 30,000 health care executives.

Associate status is the first level of professional achievement in the College. Associates must demonstrate their educational preparation and commitment to the health care field through an extensive application process.

Johnson is a resident of Benton and has been employed at St. Francis since 1982.

Suzanne Dufek, president of the Missouri Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and Peter Maher recently attended the 63rd annual meeting of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists in Philadelphia. While performing her duties as president of MOANA at the national meeting, Dufek was also appointed to serve as chief deputy to the national meeting.

The annual meeting highlights trends in anesthesia and the health care delivery system for those in attendance.

The group is the professional organization for the nation's 26,000 anesthesia specialists, who administer more than half of the 26 million anesthetics given to patients each year in the United States.

Dufek and Maher are employed by Anesthesia Associates of Cape Girardeau, serving Southeast Missouri Hospital.
