Janet C. Summers recently was honored with a luncheon at the Port Cape Girardeau restaurant in commemoration of her 30 years of employment by Schott & Van de Ven, certified public accountants.

Summers joined Schott & Van de Ven on Aug. 7, 1966, as a file clerk and has advanced to the position of assistant firm administrator. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from College High School in Cape Girardeau. She also attended Southeast Missouri State University. She is a member of Professional Secretaries International.

Steve Bowles has joined KAGMO Electric Motor and Supply Company of Cape Girardeau as sales manager for the power transmission products.

In his new position, Bowles will control sales personnel, inventory and purchasing.

Bowles worked for a local firm for 22 years in a management position and is a Charleston native.

KAGMO Electric serves all facets of the industrial, agricultural, municipal and mining market in a four-state area.

Andy Mruzik, postmaster at Matthews, attended the national convention of the National League of Postmasters in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The convention was held Aug 10-15. He was among 850 postmasters from all over the United States.

Highlight of the convention was an address by the Postmaster General, Marvin Runyon, who addressed postmaster concerns and answered questions. Postmasters attended seminars about several aspects of the Postal Service designed to teach them more about their jobs and help them better serve their customers.

Joel F. Allison, of Brost & Associates Family Eye Care, 37 Doctors' Park, is a May 1996 graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.

Allison is the recipient of the Clinical Optometry Award, sponsored by the Ozark Optical Laboratories Inc. The award is presented to the graduate whose clinical skill and professional demeanor have been judged outstanding.

While a student at the college, Allison was a member of the America Optometric Student Association, Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity. Allison was also named to the dean's list for his academic achievement.

Sandra Quigley has joined Gulliver's Travel Inc., 2424 Kingsway Drive.

Quigley has more than 2 1/2 years of experience as a travel consultant with other area agencies. Her training includes Worldspan for Windows and System One Reservation Systems, as well as Trams Agency Accounting Procedures.

She has traveled extensively in the United States, The Bahamas and has had several visits to both Disneyland and Disney World.

She is in Disney's "College of Knowledge" program and specializes in corporate travel, cruises, tours and airline reservations for all destinations.
