Dr. Elizabeth Horton, a specialist in neurological diseases among children, was elected to a two-year term as president of the Professional Advisory Board of the St. Louis Chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation of America. She has been a member of the board for six years. The foundation helps patients and families living with epilepsy. Horton said in a prepared statement that she wants to focus the organization's efforts on educating patients and doctors about the nutritional needs of people with epilepsy and create a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs to support soldiers who have severe brain injuries.

Board certification recognizes high standards of knowledge and practice and efforts to maintain those skills during the seven-year cycle between examinations.
