Sara Koppenaal has been hired as an additional assistant prosecuting attorney for Cape Girardeau County, prosecutor Christopher Limbaugh announced recently. Koppenaal is a 2007 Jackson High School alumna. She graduated Southeast Missouri State University cum laude in December 2010 with a bachelor's degree in political science. During her time at Southeast, Koppenaal interned under former Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney Morley Swingle, according to a news release from Limbaugh. Koppenaal earned a juris doctorate degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in December 2013. From May 2014 to July 2015, she worked as an assistant prosecutor in Scott County.

KFVS12 will have an additional newscast beginning Sept. 8. The newscast, to be called "Heartland News Now," will air live at 4 p.m. weekdays and will be anchored by Mollie Lair. Meteorologist Laura Wibbenmeyer will be part of the newscast as well. KFVS12 news director Mark Little said in a news release "Heartland News Now" will include breaking news, news of the day, First Alert weather forecasts, consumer information, parenting advice and information on community events and will preview stories on Heartland News at 5 and 6 p.m. "The Meredith Vieira Show," which airs at 4 p.m., will move to 2 p.m. on KFVS' sister station, the Heartland's CW.

Jeff Hotop will take over the role of business banking team member for the Commerce Bank Southeast Missouri region, effective Tuesday. Hotop manages the commercial team's business development goals and oversees relationship management related to the bank's commercial lending and business banking items, according to a news release from Commerce Bank. Hotop graduated Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and is a graduate of the Commerce Bank Leadership Development Program and Leadership Cape. Hotop also serves as secretary of the Cape West Rotary Club and participates in Read to Succeed.

Michelle Long has joined Lutheran Family and Children's Services team as development coordinator. Long will focus primarily on special events, church relations and annual giving activities, implementing development efforts to raise funds supporting LFCS' southeast region.

Mary E. Burton has been recertified as a Certified Fund Raising Executive by CFRE International. Burton is the executive director of the Community Counseling Center Foundation. To receive the credential, people must meet standards in tenure, education, fundraising achievement and commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations, according to a news release from CFRE International. They also must pass a written exam and agree to uphold accountability standards and the Donor Bill of Rights. The certification is awarded for a three-year period.
