Beard earns progressive care nurse certification
Kim Beard, a clinical instructor at the Education Center at Saint Francis Medical Center, has passed the progressive care certified nurses exam granted by the American Association of Critical-care Nurses Certification Corp. Progressive care collectively describes areas in which acutely ill patients are cared for, such as intermediate care units, direct observation units, step-down units, telemetry units and transitional care. The certification is for a three-year period. Beard joined Saint Francis in 2001 and has worked as a clinical instructor since 2006. Her responsibilities include orientation for patient care nurses, instructing staff in clinical documentation, developing training programs and serving on the nursing practice committee.
Elements Salon adds stylist Bailey to staff
Elements salon and spa in Cape Girardeau has hired hairstylist and esthetician Kristen Bailey. Bailey last worked at Trade Secret in Cape Girardeau. Bailey is accepting walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Palen promoted to VP of technical services
Mark Palen was promoted to vice president of technical services in Life Care Centers of America's information technology department in Cleveland, Tenn. Palen most recently served as Life Care's director of projects administration in information technology. Palen is a 1979 graduate from Cape Girardeau Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University before entering the United States Air Force. His father is a physician in Cape Girardeau. Palen resided in Cape Girardeau from 1978 to 1988 and 1994 to 1999.
