Hendrickson Business Advisors hires graphic designer

Katie Grapperhaus recently joined Hendrickson Business Advisors as the management and marketing firm's first graphic designer. For the past three years, Hendrickson Business Advisors has contracted with freelance and agency designers to provide marketing campaigns and support for its clients. Grapperhaus has a bachelor in fine arts from Southeast Missouri State University and previously worked with a photographer in Illinois. "This move enables us to couple Katie's fresh new designs with our professional strategy and content to make an unbeatable marketing program that will drive results for our clients," said Jennifer Hendrickson, president of Hendrickson Business Advisors. The company is based in Cape Girardeau, but operates throughout the U.S.

Martin elected vice president of state tourism board

Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director Chuck Martin was elected vice president of the Missouri Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus at its recent annual conference in Kansas City, Mo. Martin has also served as a past board member of the Missouri Travel Council and is the immediate past president of the River Heritage Association, a travel association representing the 12 southeasternmost counties in Missouri. MACVB serves in an advisory capacity on travel issues to all governmental and industry-related entities.

Jackson dentist is finalist for community service award

Dr. T. Wayne Lewis, DDS, of Jackson was selected as a finalist for the second annual Paul Morris Community Service Award established by FutureBuilders, the education foundation of the Missouri School Boards Association. This award recognizes individuals who provide leadership to their communities through school board service and other community service activities. There were 17 finalists for the award, one from each of MSBA's regions. Finalists were recognized at the MSBA awards banquet June 11 in Columbia, Mo., as part of the MSBA Leadership Summit.

Nenninger receives advanced school board certification

Paul L. Nenninger, a board of education member in the Cape Girardeau School District, has achieved Advanced Certification in the Missouri School Boards Association Certified Board Member program. The program helps local school board members master the knowledge and skills they need to function as effective educational leaders in their communities. All newly elected school board members must complete a basic 16-hour program required by state law. Those members achieving advanced certification must complete an additional 12 hours of training, read two books related to school board service, attend several workshops and write an essay relating their study to their board service.
