Dr. James L. Fox has joined the dental practice operated by his father, Dr. Robert G. Fox, at 832 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Jim Fox graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1996 and attended University of Tennessee, graduating from Southeast Missouri State University in 2001. He graduated from dental school in May at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. While completing his studies he was awarded the Philip M. Jones Award for excellence in prosthodontics. He and his wife, Rose, have two children and recently moved back to Cape Girardeau.
Lara Thompson has joined AWL Family Healthcare Center as business manager. She has 20 years of experience in management and customer service. AWL Family Healthcare Center was established in 2001 by nurse practitioners Kimberly Keser and Dolores McDowell. The office is at 36 Doctors' Park in Cape Girardeau.
Peter Dion of Boston will be the new director of business development for Gill Group Inc. in Dexter, Mo. Dion has more than 30 years' experience in leading projects and developing innovative solutions and competitive strategies across multiple disciplines and industries. Dion graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., with a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing and has significant training and experience in accounting, finance, environmental matters, and real estate and business operations. The Gill Group is a national real estate consulting firm.
B97.9 and Mix 96.5 have received the Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting. The awards were presented at a ceremony held recently at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Mo. Station B97.9 was awarded first place in the public service announcement or campaign category for the Kenny Rogers Children's Center "Lend a Hand" public service campaign and first place in the promotion category for the New Country Nation Text Club promotion campaign. Accepting the awards were station program director C.J. Cruze and general manager Rick Lambert. Mix 96.5 received a certificate of merit in the special programs category for the Fight Night program that airs weeknights on the station. B97.9 and Mix 96.5 are locally owned by Withers Broadcasting Co. Withers Broadcasting owns and operates stations in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Mo., and Paducah, Ky., as well as radio and television stations in Illinois, Iowa and West Virginia.
