New pharmacist joins staff at John's Pharmacy

Nicole Lee, PharmD, BC-ADM, has joined John's Pharmacy in Cape Girardeau. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University-Glendale in 2006. She then completed two years of post-graduate residency training with an emphasis in chronic disease management and went on to obtain Board Certification in advanced diabetes management. She enjoys working closely with both physicians and patient to optimize patient care and drug therapy. John's Pharmacy, has recently remodeled and has increased staffing to improve productivity and reduce wait times for walk-in customers. Last year the pharmacy expanded its services to include free delivery of prescription medications in Cape Girardeau. John's Pharmacy specializes in diabetes care. The addition of Lee to the staff will enable the pharmacy to offer more extensive diabetic services and support.

Southeast Missouri Press Association elected officers and directors at its annual meeting held May 14 at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. Betty Watkins of the Dexter Daily Statesman was elected president. Other officers elected were executive secretary Ann Hayes, Southeast Missouri State University News Bureau; second vice president Donna Denson, Southeast Missourian and secretary/treasurer Michelle Friedrich, Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Those elected as directors were Scott Seal, Portageville Missourian News; Kim Combs, Wayne County Journal Banner, Piedmont, Mo.; Peggy Scott, Leader Publications, Festus, Mo.; Gera LeGrand, Southeast Missourian; past president Deanna Nelson, Sikeston Standard Democrat; Judy Schaaf-Wheeler, Ironton Mountain Echo; and Kate Martin, Republic-Monitor, Perryville, Mo.

Saint Francis manager earns pediatric nurse certification

Roberta Terry, assistant manager of the Saint Francis Children's Center, has earned the credential of Certified Pediatric Nurse after successfully completing the Certified Pediatric Nurse Exam administered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Terry joined Saint Francis in 1987. She has worked in pediatric nursing for her entire career at Saint Francis, but also spent a few months concurrently in the Gastrointestinal Laboratory. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science in nursing and is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses.
