The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce hired Kim Voelker as membership development specialist. Voelker will work with chamber members to ensure quality of programs and services. She has experience in relationship building, management, sales and training, and she previously worked with the United Way of Southeast Missouri and Montgomery Bank.
Twenty graduates completed the Dale Carnegie Course offered by Hendrickson Business Advisors of Cape Girardeau.
Graduates from the Do It Best Corp. are Dustin Cook, Paul Tipler, Lola Hinkebein, Randy Sanders, Dennis Bean, Nick Dannenmueller, Robert Ressell, Jeremy Vandeven, Albert Arnzen and Jeff Bogenpohl.
Graduates of the public course are Ty Ferrell, Chris Goeke, Tim Schmidt, Chase Ferrell, Rodney Austin, Dennis Riney, Mitchell Kester, Earl Stevens, Shakela Swanson and Bill Ansberry.

The Rev. Grant Gillard of Jackson won the Missouri Beekeeper of the Year award granted by the Missouri State Beekeepers Association. Gillard was recognized for his outstanding contributions to beekeeping and service to the association.
Hillarie Mueller joined Rustmedia as an online marketing strategist and project manager. Mueller will work to strengthen social media marketing and will help area businesses develop media strategies. She has experience working as a field representative with Southeast SportsCare. Mueller is originally from Bakersfield, Calif., and is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
Two area corn growers were honored as state winners in the 2012 National Corn Yield Contest, sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association.
J & J Farms of Delta, Mo., won third in the state in the no-till/strip-till irrigated class.
M & B Farms of Scott City won third in the state in the irrigated class.
