Greg Unger of Frohna, Mo., was appointed to the Perry County Memorial Hospital board of trustees. Unger is the co-owner of US Electric. As a board member his primary duties include overseeing quality and financial aspects of the hospital. Unger previously worked as a first-responder and is involved with the Jaycees and the East Perry Community Fair Board. Dr. Monica Abernot joined the SoutheastHEALTH medical staff. She joins Dr. Donna Pry at the Southeast Cozean Eye Institute at 56 Doctors Park. Abernot specializes in cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology, including diagnosis and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Abernot completed her medical doctoral degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C.
Saint Francis Healthcare System added Teri Kreitzer, director of human resources, and Diane Smith, chief information officer, to its executive team, which implements operations and examines long-term issues for the health-care system. Smith began with Saint Francis in 1973, and Kreitzer joined in 1990. They join existing members Steven C. Bjelich, FACHE-D, president and chief executive officer; vice presidents Tony Balsano, Marilyn Curtis, Jeannie Fadler, Dr. James Schell and Barbara W. Thompson; and Rick Essner, director of environmental engineering.
