Area student selected as intern for association

University of Missouri senior Christine Tew, daughter of Cindy Tew of Scott City and Dennis Tew of Benton, Mo., will be the spring intern for the Missouri Pork Association. Tew is studying agricultural journalism and natural resources management and has had previous internships with University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Tew is a graduate of Kelly High School.

Saint Francis selects v.p. of medical affairs

Saint Francis Medical Center announced that it has named Dr. James A. Schell II, M.D., as vice president for medical affairs at the hospital. Schell will oversee physician recruitment and credentialing and the use of advances in medical technology, among other administrative and medical functions. Schell moved to Saint Francis after a stint as medical director of DePaul Health Center in St. Louis. He has practiced internal medicine and served as a medical director for a variety of organizations.

Certification program completed by agent

Sheila Carlton of Realty Executives of Cape County has completed the Realtor e-Pro course to obtain certification from the National Association of Realtors. The e-Pro course is designed to provide real estate professionals with the tools to provide services over the Internet.

Four named among top 50 producers in region

Ross and Cynthia Austin and Jeff and Deb Martin of Realty Executives of Cape County were named among the top 50 producers for the Mid-America Region of Realty Executives. The award recognizes the top 4 percent of sales producers among 1,200 agents in the region that includes St. Louis, Kansas City, Mo., and Denver, among other cities.

Man completes training on glass installation

Robert Pulley of Davis Glass Co. received a certificate of completion for attending the Kawneer Mechanic's School in Atlanta. The course, given over a four-day period, provides training in the installation of commercial storefronts and systems.

Veterinary hospital adds member to staff

Dogwood Veterinary Hospital in Cape Girardeau has added Dr. Kelly Smith, a 2004 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Smith is a 2000 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and comes to Dogwood Veterinary after several years of practicing in Sikeston, Mo.
