Hospital CEO earns management credential

Southeast Missouri Hospital president and CEO James W. Wente has earned the status of Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, the nation's leading professional society for health-care leaders. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows undergo recertification every three years. Wente has been a member of the administrative staff at Southeast since 1975 and president and CEO since 1991. He maintains an active role in the Missouri Hospital Association.

Noah's Ark sails into Cape Girardeau

Lisa Boyer of Cape Girardeau has become an independent crew member for Noah's Ark Animal Workshop. The workshop is a traveling "Stuff-N-Fluff" animal workshop where children and their families come together to stuff and name an animal and personalize their new friend with outfits, accessories and sound chips. The workshop is designed to stimulate imagination, inspiration and love in children of all ages by providing a memorable, hands-on activity. In addition, the workshop offers a traveling party concept for girls between the ages of 8 and 12.

Edward Jones rep gets specialist designation

Stan Irwin of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Cape Girardeau has achieved the professional designation of accredited asset management specialist. Irwin completed a professional education program from Denver-based College for Financial Planning. Those who complete the program, pass a final exam and sign a code of ethics and disclosure form earn the designation.

Jackson beautician goes to training in Las Vegas

Nikki Wells from Style Stop Lifestyles in Jackson has returned from Las Vegas, where she underwent three days of training. Wells interacted with and observed industry leaders, and was trained in the latest in spring/summer hair coloring, dimensional and asymmetrical hair shaping, salon management, marketing and personal and group motivation.
