Michael Gardner of Cape Girardeau has been appointed by the Missouri Supreme Court to the state board of law examiners. The board is responsible for administering the bar exam and evaluating applicants' character and fitness for admission to the practice of law. Gardner practices with Osburn, Hine, Yates and Murphy LLC in Cape Girardeau.
Kim Beggs recently joined the Thomas Insurance Company of Cape Girardeau as an agent specializing in all lines of health insurance. Beggs, who has more than seven years' experience selling health insurance, was born and raised in Cape Girardeau and will be assisting new and current customers with their specific insurance needs.
Douglas Spooler of Cape Girardeau has been APICS certified in production and inventory management through the Association for Operations Management. To achieve the certification, Spooler passed five exams including basics of supply chain management, master planning of resources, detailed scheduling and planning, execution and control of operations and strategic management of resources. Spooler holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a master's degree in industrial management from Southeast Missouri State University. He is plant manager at PolyOne's Cape Girardeau Nash Road location.
The Public Relations Student Society of America at Southeast Missouri State University has been named a 2013 National Star Chapter. This is the first award for Southeast and the first for Missouri. The Star Chapter Award program, established in 2008, recognizes outstanding chapter and professional development. Southeast Missouri State University was one of 27 of the more than 350 chapters nationwide to be recognized as a star chapter.
David Soto of SOTO Property Solutions of Cape Girardeau has recently was recognized for his Sterling R investment in the Realtors Political Action Committee and the National Association of Realtors Leadership. Soto's investment helped with NAR priorities in creating affordable housing opportunities and protection of consumers in real estate transactions, and his investment also furthered the passage of the National Flood Reform Act in 2012.
Several employees in the Jackson Public Works Department were recently recognized as graduates of the Road Scholar Level 1 program sponsored by the Missouri Local Technical Assistance Program. The Road Scholar program is intended to enhance the skills of public works employees involved in the maintenance, delivery and management of local transportation and infrastructure. The program's training is aimed at increasing each participant's technical, maintenance, administrative and supervisory skills.
