Missouri chamber names conference director
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hired Tracey Glenn to be the new director of conference development. Glenn will facilitate the Missouri Chamber's major conferences and numerous seminar programs in this post. More than 2,000 people participate in Missouri Chamber conferences and educational programs across the state each year. Glenn and her family recently relocated to Jefferson City from Cape Girardeau, where she served as the public information manager for the city of Cape Girardeau.
Jackson woman wins Prudential grant award
Crystal Burress of Jackson, a representative for Prudential Insurance, received a Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants Award of $1,000 for the American Cancer Society, High Plains Division. Burress volunteered 60 hours with the organization in 2005 in two main fund-raising events for the local chapter. She served as a team captain for Relay for Life, attending planning meetings, recruiting walkers, raising pledges, gathering donations for the basket auction and participating in extra fund-raising projects the night of the event. Burress also served on the planning committee for the annual gala and as co-chairwoman of the auction committee. The Prudential Foundation and Prudential Financial recently provided $478,750 in Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants to more than 650 not-for-profit organizations worldwide. The Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants program recognizes individual and team volunteers based on a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service per individual.
Jackson seller attends AtHome conference
Denise Kirk of AtHome America Inc. in Jackson attended the company's Independence Forum conference from Jan. 17 to 19 in Alsip, Ill. Top leaders were presented the company's sales and marketing plans for 2007 and were trained in creating a strategic marketing plan. Kirk has been a part of the company, a direct-seller of home-decorating accents, since 1997.
Edward Jones rep appointed to task force
Donna Domian, Edward Jones investment representative in Cape Girardeau, recently was appointed to the firm's Grassroots Legislative Task Force. The group is dedicated to voicing the concerns of individual investors to local, state and national lawmakers. As a task force member, Domain will travel to Washington, D.C., to discuss with lawmakers a number of investment-related issues on the minds of individual investors. Domain has served the Cape Girardeau area for Edward Jones since 1990.
WPSD hires executive producer, news anchor
WPSD NewsChannel 6 has hired Lisa Polizzi as executive producer and Noah Bond as reporter/anchor. Polizzi is a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and joins NewsChannel 6 from WKBW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Buffalo. In her new position at WPSD, Polizzi is responsible for managing the daily news content and developing special projects. Bond joins NewsChannel 6 from KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Edward Jones names branch administrator
Donna Buehrle has been promoted to senior branch office administrator at the Cape Girardeau office of the financial-services firm of Edward Jones. Donna and Joe Domain, the local Edward Jones financial advisers said that Buehrle has demonstrated an outstanding ability to juggle the many complex tasks and responsibilities associated with helping run the office and is deserving of the promotion. Buehrle has been with Edward Jones the past four and a half years.
SEMO Port authority honors two
The SEMO Port Authority recently honored Harold Uelsmann for his years of service as a port commissioner. Uelsmann, appointed to the Port Board by Scott County, served as a commissioner from 1998 to 2006, and is retired from his position as public works director for Scott City. The port authority also honored Irvin Garms for his service as chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Garms has served on the board since 1991 and also serves as the chairman of the port's construction committee. Garms retired from R.B. Potashnick.
Southeast analyst earns management credential
Southeast Missouri Hospital staff member Jerry L. Sanders has earned the status of Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation's leading professional society for health-care leaders. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must pass an examination, meet academic and experiential criteria, earn continuing education credits and demonstrate professional and community involvement. Fellows undergo recertification every three years. Sanders has been a member of the Southeast staff for 25 years. He has served as controller and vice president and chief financial officer. He currently is the hospital's financial analyst.
