Martin receives Ambassador award
The Department of Economic Development's Division of Tourism recognized Chuck Martin, executive director of the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, at the 2013 Governor's Conference on Tourism in Springfield, Mo., on Oct. 2 through 4. Martin received the Ambassador award, which is presented to an individual, business or organization that conscientiously supports and promotes Missouri tourism in any and all ways available to them. Martin serves in a variety of positions with a number of statewide organizations, and he serves as vice president of the Missouri Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, a director for the Missouri Travel Council and a member of the Cooperative Marketing Planning Committee of the Missouri Division of Tourism.
Cape Girardeau Councilwoman Loretta Schneider and City Clerk Gayle Conrad received certified Municipal Official status from the Missouri Municipal League's Governance Institute. Mayor Harry Rediger presented Schneider and Conrad with plaques signifying the achievements during the Oct. 7 City Council meeting. To achieve this honor, a municipal official must complete 16 credit hours of training conducted or endorsed by the Municipal Governance Institute. Through their attendance at statewide and regional Governance Institute-sanctioned educational events, Schneider and Conrad received training in subjects such as council meeting procedures, parliamentary procedures and more.
Jessica Espinoza has been named the September 2013 Leet EyeCare Above And Beyond Award Recipient. Espinoza is a clinical technician at the 3230 Blattner Drive location. Jessica was nominated by her peers as an employee who works to exceed patients' expectations.
Carly O'Keefe, anchor and reporter for Heartland News on KFVS-12, won an Emmy award from the Mid-America chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award was presented Oct. 5 at the annual Emmy Award ceremony in St. Louis in the category of General Assignment Report within 24 Hours. O'Keefe started her broadcast career at KTVO-TV in Ottumwa, Iowa, where she won numerous industry awards, including feature reporting and excellence in writing. She has been at KFVS-12 since 2005.
Luke Hilgenbrinck has been named local sales manager for KFVS-12 and The Heartland's CW, WQWQ-TV. Hilgenbrinck started his broadcasting career in 2005 as an account executive for WGEM radio in Quincy, Ill. He then took a position in sales for KHQA-TV in Quincy and was quickly promoted to local sales manager at KHQA's sister station, KTVO-TV, in Kirksville, Mo. Most recently, Hilgenbrinck has been the general sales manager at KTVO.
Hendrickson Business Advisors of Cape Girardeau has announced 11 people graduated from the eight-week Dale Carnegie Course held earlier this month. The course focused on self-confidence, enhancing relationships, gaining willing cooperation, effective communication, stress and worry management and leadership skills.
