Tim Arbeiter, vice president for community development of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, has graduated from Institute for Organization Management, a four-year not-for-profit leadership training program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Since 1921, the institute has drawn association and chamber professionals from across the country to its five university sites. During the four years, most institute participants attend the one-week sessions at the same site, building relationships with others in the industry.
J.D. Goodwin of Home Medical Supply has earned the Assistive Technology Professional certification from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America. RESNA is a national organization that serves people with disabilities seeking technology applications to maximize their ability to function in their home, school and work environment. A trained assistive technology professional analyzes the needs of individuals with disabilities, assists in the selection of the appropriate equipment and trains the consumer how to properly use the specific equipment.
The Missouri Hospital Association and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has appointed Rick Essner, director of facilities management at Saint Francis Medical Center, to a statewide task force. The task force is responsible for reviewing and revising the Missouri hospital licensing rules. The task force has divided the hospital licensing rules into sections, and task force members have been assigned responsibility for reviewing the selected rules. Essner's work group will review standards for five sections: fire safety, general safety and operating features; orientation and continuing education; quality improvement programs; environmental and support services; and infection control.
