Two join Alliance Bank in Cape Girardeau
Alliance Bank of Cape Girardeau has announced the hiring of J. Michael Pobst and Kimberly Hackworth to the Alliance Bank staff. Pobst has become the community president over the Sikeston facility while Hackworth will serve as the bank's administrative assistant.
Pobst has more than 26 years of banking experience, most recently as the president of the local Union Planters Bank. Hackworth began her career with Capital Bank in 1990.
Schumer appointed chair of dietetic group
Debra Schumer, has accepted the position of continuing education chair for the Missouri Dietetic Association. The MDA has a membership of more than 1,300 serving the profession of dietetics including registered/licensed dietitians and technicians.
As continuing education chair, Schumer is responsible for checking criteria for continuing education credit hours for registered dietitians and registered dietetic technicians programs in Missouri. She will also aid individual programs in developing activities for continuing education hours.
Schumer is currently employed at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She is also past president of the Southeast District Dietetic Association and current nominating chair.
Accountant attends course on audits
Rebecca Lohmann, staff accountant with Schott & Van de Ven Certified Public Accountants, recently attended a course that covered audits of nonprofit and governmental organizations.
The training focused on planning and performing audits in accordance with the requirements of Circular A-133 and the Single Audit Act amendments. Lohmann is a graduate of SIU-Carbondale with a master's degree in accounting.
Truck driver retires from ABF Freight
Gerald Hinton retired July 31 with more than 35 years in the trucking industry, the last 14 with ABF Freight System Inc. He finished his career as a city driver for the Cape Girardeau service center.
ABF Freight is one of North America's largest motor carriers, with direct service to all 50 states.
Financial rep wins Pacesetter 40 award
Michelle Barber of Jackson was awarded the Pacesetter 40 award during the 2003 annual meeting of financial representatives of Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee on July 19. Pacesetter 40 honors financial representatives who sell 40 life policies during their first six months in business.
Barber recently joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network of Cape Girardeau. Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Cape Girardeau is part of the Network's Hempstead Group office in St. Louis.
