Cape native promoted to Nokia vice president
Joseph Low III, a former resident of Cape Girardeau and a 1985 graduate of Central High School, has been promoted to vice president Nokia Mobile Phones, Latin America. Low will be responsible for product planning, pricing and strategies. He will be the key interface between all business units and Latin America. Since 1999, Low has been director of Latin America customer development for the business unit based in San Diego, Calif. Prior to that, Low was one of the first employees of the Nokia do Brasil office in Sao Paulo and an active leader in the formation if Nokia's initial sales organization in Brazil.
Jackie Majoros, a financial consultant with the Cape Girardeau office of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., has become estate and trust services consultant. Majoros completed approximately 100 hours of study that addressed federal estate and gift taxation, wills, intestacy, probate, trusts and other subjects. Eight hours of supplementary courses on the latest A.G. Edwards tools and techniques offered through A.G. Edwards University were also required. Majoros, of Cape Girardeau, has been with A.G. Edwards since 2002.
Cell technician Ray Spies of Chaffee, Mo., has been named Dana's April Employee of the Month. Spies has worked at the Cape Girardeau facility since April 6, 1998. Ray is currently assigned to department 500 on 3rd shift.
Future executive senior sales director Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau recently honored her unit top performers for the quarter at a dinner in Sikeston, Mo. Those honored for being star consultants were Jateff, Kim Proffer of Cape Girardeau, Tina Ashby of Scott City and Sherry Campbell of Jackson.
Jon K. Rust, publisher of the Southeast Missourian and co-president of Rust Communications, was among the new members elected to the Associated Press board of directors. Five incumbents and two new members were elected in results announced April 3 at the annual meeting of the news cooperative. The other new member is Kenneth W. Lowe, president and CEO of E.W. Scripps Co. Re-elected to three-year terms were Walter E. Hussman Jr., publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette; Douglas McCorkindale, chairman of Gannett Co. Inc.; R. John Mitchell, publisher of the Rutland (Vt.) Herald; Gary Pruitt, chairman, president and CEO of McClatchy Co.; and Jay R. Smith, president of Cox Newspapers Inc. Reappointed to three-year terms on the board were David Westin, president of ABC News and Bruce T. Reese, president and CEO of Salt Lake City-based Bonneville International Corp, both representing the broadcast industry. The AP is a not-for-profit cooperative of U.S. newspapers and broadcasters.
Jo Duff of Prudential Bridgeport Inc. Realtors in Cape Girardeau attended the Prudential Real Estate Sales Convention & Prudential University in March in San Antonio, Texas. Classes are tailored toward providing a five-star service with higher professional accountability to both home sellers and buyers. Duff also received the Prudential Leading Edge Society Award, which Duff received based on selling the largest number of homes at Prudential Bridgeport Realtors in 2005.
