SEMO administrators attend conference

Several Southeast Missouri State University administrators attended the Renaissance Group conference April 2 through 4.

Southeast's Dr. Jane Stephens, provost; Dr. Shirley Stennis-Williams, dean of the College of Education; and Dr. Paul Watkins, field experiences director, attended the conference at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. The conference was the spring 2003 meeting of the Renaissance Group, a consortium of 36 universities across the nation that share information about their teacher education programs.

Cosmetologist joins Eugene's Salon and Spa

Jeffrey Bishop has started working at Eugene's Salon and Spa in Cape Girardeau. Bishop is a cosmetologist, specializing in hair cutting, coloring and styling.

Bishop has 22 years of experience, including his 10 years working for Redkin International, where he traveled around the country, doing hair shows for hairdressers. Eugene's is at 97 N. Kingshighway.

Gholsons join American Angus Association

Greg Gholson of Jackson is a new junior member of the American Angus Association. David Gholson also is a new junior member.

Junior members of the association are eligible to register cattle in the association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in association sponsored shows and other national and regional events.

The American Angus Association is the largest beef registry association in the world, with more than 35,000 active adult and junior members.

AAA agent receives Gold Seal Award

Jim Burke, a AAA sales agent in the Cape Girardeau office, has received AAA's Gold Seal Award for 2003.

Recognized for his consistent and superior standards of performance in property and casualty insurance services, Burke also had to meet goals in auto insurance sales, loss ratios and policyholder services.

As a Gold Seal agent, Burke is afforded greater underwriting and binding authority and can pay small damage claims. Burke has been a AAA agent since 1986.

Lynn promoted at Buffalo Wild Wings

Longtime restaurant manager Jerry Lynn of Scott City has been promoted to assistant general manager at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar in Cape Girardeau.

Lynn has been a manager at the restaurant since its opening in August. In his new position, Lynn is responsible for of all aspects of the operation.

His first major community project is to coordinate the airing of the Ultimate Fighting Championship on April 25.

Prior to joining the Buffalo Wild Wings staff, he was supervisor of food and beverage for Harrah's Casino in Metropolis for nearly nine years and later was manager of Burger King in Jackson.
