Groesbeck retiring from AmerenUE

Michael K. Holman will succeed Doug Groesbeck as manager of AmerenUE's manager of the southeast district in Cape Girardeau. Groesbeck is retiring after a 26-year career with Ameren and predecessor companies.

Holman, who is a 21-year veteran of Ameren and its predecessors, currently is assistant manager of Ameren's Little Dixie and Green Hills districts in north-central and northern Missouri. Besides the southeast district, Holman will also manage Ameren's Potosi and St. Francois districts as part of a realignment. The change became effective Feb. 1.

Holman joined Missouri Power and Light company in 1982 as a district clerk. He later became a customer service adviser, working his way through the ranks.

Groesbeck joined Missouri Power and Light in 1977 as a customer service adviser in Kirksville, Mo. He has been manager of the Cape Girardeau district since 1994.

Cape doctor receives community service award

Dr. Steve Jordan of Cape Girardeau has received the Community Service Excellence Award from the Brain Injury Association of Missouri.

Jordan was recognized for leading a major information campaign about the dangers of concussions and how to prevent them. The campaign, reaching more than 20,000 people, sought to increase the ability of parents to recognize the signs of concussion and seek timely medical treatment to prevent brain injury.

The Brain Injury Association of Missouri is a grass-roots community-based organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of brain injury, as well as promoting the acceptance, independence, productivity of people with brain injuries and supporting their families.

Fritzler appointed to Faith Financial Planners

Faith Financial Planners Inc. has announced the appointment of Steven K. Fritzler, CLU, LUTCF. Faith Financial Planners is a national financial services company whose advisers emphasize the belief that people should have the opportunity to reflect their personal values in the way they develop their financial plan.

Faith Financial Planners is based in Nashville, Tenn., but Fritzler works out of a Cape Girardeau office.

Smallwood appointed newest WIB member

Glenn "Skip" Smallwood Jr. of Cape Girardeau is the newest member of the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri. Smallwood is the business development executive for economic development with Ameren Services and is replacing Mike Seabaugh, who has changed seats on the board.

Seabaugh was serving as economic development member on the board, but has been moved to the One-Stop Partner position with the resignation of Tony Crawford.

The Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri is made up of private and public sector members from 13 counties and meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Drury Inn in Cape Girardeau. Smallwood will attend his first meeting on Feb. 18.

Miles relocates office to healing institute

Don Miles, Ph.D., the owner of Caring Touch Center, has relocated his office to the Conscious Healing Institute facility at 106 Farrar Drive, Suite 101, in Cape Girardeau. Miles is a a certified nutritional consultant, certified natural health professional and reiki master.

Miles received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and has a certificate in herbal studies from the Australasian College of Herbal Studies. Miles was formerly the supervisor of the microbiology lab at St. Francis Medical Center, where he has been employed for the past 21 years. He says he will continue on a part-time basis at St. Francis; however, he is excited about this opportunity to help people in a more tangible way.

The Conscious Healing Institute is a nonprofit Missouri corporation, engaged in research and education in the field of consciousness studies, including the mind-body connection and empirical effects of complimentary and alternative healing modalities.

Miles offers massage therapy, Zen shiatsu, myofascial release and reiki, as well as consultations in the use of organic herbs for health, nutrition, and wellness.

Prudential office in Perryville hires Rudert

Prudential Financial Inc. announced last week that David Rudert has joined Prudential's Perryville office at 7 W. Joseph St. as a representative serving the insurance and financial services needs of clients.

Rudert has qualified for the National Quality Award for 10 years and National Sales Achievement Award for 11 years.
