Applegate Restaurant opened recently just south of Kelso.
The restaurant is on a site that previously was an apple orchard, thus the name, said Darrell Long, one of three owners of the restaurant that specializes in barbecued ribs and steaks.
Long and Norman Robert, both of Cape Girardeau, and Don Rogers of Scott City are owners of the restaurant, which seats about 80 people.
The restaurant is open at 11 a.m. seven days a week. It closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight Friday and Saturday.
Robert, who previously operated a restaurant, sets up the recipes for the new restaurant, which features a full menu, including items from the Kelso Burger to steaks and ribs, with the trimmings.
The restaurant will hold its grand opening soon.
