Caroline S. Brown, a registered art therapist, has opened a private practice.

Brown, of Jackson, has worked with design and implementation of the Art Therapy programs at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati, Valley Institute of Psychiatry at Owensboro, Ky.; DePauw Hospital in St. Louis and Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center in Cape Girardeau.

Brown, who has a master's degree in art therapy and has done post-graduate work in counseling, is a member of the American Art Therapy Association, Missouri Art Therapy Association and American Creativity Association.

Art Psychotherapy, said Brown, is the use of patient artwork to explore personal problems and potentials.

"No previous art experience is necessary," said Brown. "Clients use simple art media and images to express themselves."
