NEW BUSINESS ON THE STREET: USED-CAR BONANZA COMING

The market is getting bigger for used-car buyers in Cape Girardeau County.

Consumers in the market for used vehicles will have an additional 350 to 400 vehicles to pick from next summer.

Bud Shell Auto World Inc., which will open in Cape West Business Park in 30 to 45 days, will have 175 to 200 late-model, used cars on its lot, said Robert Shell, who owns and operates Bud Shell Ford in Dexter, one of the larger dealerships between the St. Louis and Memphis metropolitan areas.

Shell, who is already looking to expand in other Southeast Missouri markets, will be move to along Siemers Drive in Cape Girardeau's newest business park, which runs alongside Interstate 55.

"We'll have a 3,000-square-foot showroom and facility for up to 200 cars," said Shell. "And there is room for expansion at the site."

Another 150 late-model cars and trucks will be available at McDowell South Inc., 4670 E. Jackson Blvd., near the Interstate-Route 61 intersection.

Ron McDowell, who is owner of McDowell Ford, Pontiac and Buick at Perryville, will be owner of McDowell South Inc.

"We're looking for a mid-July opening," said McDowell. "We'll have a good alignment of late-model cars and trucks."
