Angelic Phrases, a company that specializes in the manufacture of "poetic Guardian Angels," is now available on the wholesale market.
The idea of miniature angels began with a dream more than two years ago and has grown into a business that provides products to retail establishments from St. Louis to Memphis.
Debby Friese of Scott City and Tammy Clardy of Jackson first launched their cottage industry in 1994.
The two sisters are authors of "phrases" that appear on each of the small angels.
"It started out as a craft," said Clardy. "We made our angel dolls and sold them at craft fairs. Now, we sell wholesale only."
When needed, the sisters employ two or three helpers to produce up to 500 angels a week.
The company has major accounts in Memphis and St. Louis, noted Clardy.
The angels are also available at a number of Cape Girardeau markets, including Victorian Memories and Gospeland Book Store in West Park Mall and Arrangements by Joyce at 100 S. Sprigg.
